Spider Monday - Amazing Spider-Man #10

Wow, has it been ten weeks already that I've been reviewing every The Amazing Spider-Man? We're closing in on the very first year of the adventures of Pete and Evil Overlord May, and it's been a heck of a ride so far. We've met some iconic villains, a living but not living brain, and even watched in awe as Peter conquered glasses! Now, we're moving on to a new group of villains. As the cover promises, "Never has anyone fought such merciless foes as.. The Enforcers!" Is the tag true to its word? Let's find out!

Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Commander Class Bulkhead 2012

While Transformers fans worship at the alter of Generation 1 in general (the original toys released in the early to mid 80s), one of the great things about TF fans is that they are open to new ideas. It's why they've managed to stay on shelves and televisions for thirty years while other properties have stagnated. The figure I'm looking at today, Bulkhead, didn't exist in the 80s. It wasn't until Transformers:Energon that he was introduced, and then he was perfected with Transformers Animated. Proving very popular, he was brought almost entirely unchanged into Transformers Prime, the latest cartoon and the inspiration for this toy line.

Thundercats ThunderTank 2011

Full disclosure. I have only one tattoo and will always have only one tattoo. I got it in honor of having met my wife, a couple of months after we were engaged. I was 34 at the time. I wanted to wait until I had a reason to get one, and could come up with a design I liked. I finally ended up with the Thundercats logo, done in a broken rock/chrome style. It covers most of the outside of my shoulder, so it's not exactly tiny. I'm telling you this to let you know that I have more than a passing fondness for the 80s show and toyline, Thundercats. That disclosure takes us to today's review, the ThunderTank.

Spider Monday - Amazing Spider-Man #9

Welcome to my ninth review of The Amazing Spider-Man, which just happens to also be the ninth issue! What a coincidence! I was left disappointed after last issue, featuring The Living Brain, but I'm hoping we can get back on track. This issue features the first appearance of Electro, who goes on to become a long-time Spider Foe. How does he do on his first appearance? Let's find out!

Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Commander Class Hardshell 2013

Ladies and gentlemen.. meet Hardshell! Us 80s kids might not recognize the name Hardshell, but you'll certainly recognize him once you see his transformation. Yes, this is a modern nod to the old favorite Insecticon, Shrapnel the stag beetle. He goes stag everywhere! Hahahahaha *snort*! Uhm.. anyway.. let's just get on with the review.

McFarlane Toys 1998 Bottom Line

I have reviewed McFarlane Toys a few times and.. to be honest.. I'm going to be reviewing a lot more before it's all over with. You just can't look at modern vintage toys without looking at McFarlane. They did so many things right, and so many more things very, very wrong. This time, I'm taking a look at a figure called Bottom Line, which was made after McFarlane Toys had been running for a few years. Is he something done right or done wrong? Let's find out!

Spider Monday - Amazing Spider-Man #8

This is kind of a special review of The Amazing Spider-Man. See, this is the first original review I'm writing for Fine Vintage Reviews. All of the ones up until now were cribbed from my old project, creatively titled Every Amazing Spider-Man Reviewed, which was just too limited to keep me interested. I'm really enjoying putting them back up, and also looking forward to getting back into writing about the exploits of Evil Overlord May and her hapless nephew. Today, we get to kick some glasses' butt, fight Flash Thompson, and discover the menace of The Living Brain.

McFarlane Toys 1996 Tremor II

If I had a dollar for every figure McFarlane Toys made that I'd never heard of, I'd have.. well, let's just say that this would be a much fancier website. Today, I'm taking a look at Tremor II, a figure that was released in 1996 while McFarlane Toys was still on a meteoric rise and embracing action features. You know, for kids! Who is Tremor II? You've got me on that one. Hey, sue me.. the guy was just really cheap.

Hasbro Transformers Piranacon 2010

There's no getting around it. This is going to be a review with a LOT of pictures. I'm going to break up my style a little bit on this. Rather than going from photo to photo with commentary, I'm going to go from figure to figure. If I stop typing, scroll down to the next figure and you'll see more of my color commentary. As always, if you'd rather skip anything I have to say, just take in the photographs and feel free to click on them - it makes for much bigger pretty pictures instead of little pretty pictures.

Spider Monday - Amazing Spider-Man #7

After an introduction to the all-new, all-dangerous Lizard last issue, this time around Lee and Ditko are answering the requests of the fans and bringing us another exciting adventure of the Vulture. Where he only had half a comic before, now he has a full adventure of his own spanning an entire 22 pages. Will the character be compelling enough to make it work? Spoiler Alert: Yes. Still, the fun is in the details, so let's take a look at the adventure for ourselves and see if Vulture's crimes can't be stopped! Also, who knew that the Spider Parachute tag would make a second appearance?? Bizarre.

DC Direct Diana Prince 2011

Wonder Woman has had a rather.. difficult history. DC Comics has never really been sure what to do with her, which has led to some fantastic storylines and some terrible storylines. She rocked the air waves in the 1970s, and hasn't been seen in any live action adaptation since. Her comics have set sales records and nearly been canceled more times that could be counted. She is absolutely a walking contradiction.. but no one can deny she doesn't make for some fantastic plastic toys!

Bootleg Transformer Soundwave 20??

Ah, bootlegs. Where would be in the world without you? You make unaffordable toys more affordable with incredibly questionable design decisions and quality control issues! Still, when you just have to own a figure, and you don't want to break into triple digits to do so, a bootleg might just be the way to go. As an example of that, I'm taking a look at what is easily my most illegal figure, Soundwaveish.

Spider Monday - Amazing Spider-Man #6

Time for yet another Amazing Spider-Man review! Welcome back, everyone. Today, we're taking a look at Amazing Spider-Man #6, which is the first appearance of The Lizard! This issue also takes us out of New York for the first time, letting Peter find his way to the generic Florida Everglades in pursuit of a terrifying menace that only he can stop because, uhm, I'm pretty sure he's the only one that really cares or believes it.
